Centuries before: The estuary of Rio de la Plata and the river Uruguay in the age of the jesuit reductiones (river system and frontiers)

Abstrakt
Relations (and reciprocal knowledge) between the Czech lands and the region of Uruguay became real much before the 20th century, in context with the Jesuit missionaries, their presence in the Province of Paraguay of the Society of Jesus and their testimonies during the 17th and 18th century. This contribution emphasizes the importance of the rivers as roads of communicationes and the conflict of the frontiers between Spain and Portugal in this area.
