Abstract
The chapter outlines history of an influential Geluk monastery from Amdo, the lineage of reicarnated masters called Kirti, and the kings of Ngawa with whom they had close ties. This chapter is a reprint of an older article published in Revue d'Etudes Tibétaines journal with minor edits.
