Abstract
The present case report of an otherwise healthy child illustrates a situation where damage to the airway epithelium by influenza A virus allowed the development of severe, life-threatening staphylococcal pneumonia with the need for artificial lung ventilation, fluidopneumothorax and chest drainage.
