Prehistoric research in the western part of Jebel Sabaloka (spring 2019)

Abstract

The paper reports the main results of the field research carried out in the western part of Jebel Sabaloka in the spring 2019. A portfolio of methods and approaches was applied to overcome the challenges posed by the differing degree of alteration of the late prehistoric sites in central Sudan through diverse C- and N-transforms.

In addition to surface research and small-scale excavation, typological, morphological and technological study of pottery and groundstone artefacts from selected sites was performed with the aim to assess inter- and intra-site variability in the region.
