Abstract

Large monographs devoted to profile historians can be grasped in a variety of ways. Some authors emphasize biography rather than scientific work, others strive for a proportional relationship between the two components, while others approach the issue comprehensively and take life and research into an organic connection.

This concept is closest to me personally. Roman Pazderský, a young, talented and publication-wise man, chose a different path.

In a heuristically exemplary work, he programmatically prefers, perhaps inspired by Josef Fischer's well-known work on František Palacký, an analysis of the historian's work. Her thorough knowledge is a necessary condition for him to determine the place and significance of Václav Vladivoj Tomek in Czech historiography.
