Abstrakt
Phraseological complexity plays a critical role in assessing the language competence level necessary to understand or produce text by a language learner and automated tools supporting international certifications for second languages. Appropriate syntactic-based parsing tools for pos/tagging texts are required to efficiently and correctly identify the components of phraseological units to apply computational and corpus-based measures.
In this paper, we consider some of the main syntactic parsing tools publicly available for the Italian language and compare them in the framework of a project aiming at characterizing the phraseological complexity of a corpus produced by learners of Italian as a second language.
