Giant Mountains in Changes of 20th Century

Publication

Abstract

The Interdisciplinary International Scientific Conference is organized by the Historical Institute of the CAS, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and the Administration of the Giant Mountains National Park. The Giant Mountains are an area marked by a partial loss of historical and cultural memory as a result of the post-war radical political and social transformation of society.

Efforts to understand and analyze their historical and cultural identity are greatly complicated by the local, linguistic and institutional fragmentation of information sources. As a result of this fact, even the relatively recent history of the Giant Mountains is partially lost, the contours of our knowledge are unclear, blurred, interpretation is then difficult and sometimes impossible or partly questionable.
