Publication

Abstract

In an unconventional form, the exhibition will present various types of springs relating to the eastern Giant Mountains and the year 1938, i.e. the construction of Czechoslovak fortifications, everyday life in the shadow of bunkers, municipal elections, the occupation of the Giant Mountains by the German army, etc.The story of three friends - explorers (historians, archaeologists and ethnologists) will guide visitors through the process of revealing the past. Almost detective searches take them into the field, memory institutions in the Czech Republic and Germany, for coffee to witnesses, private collectors or experts and into the virtual world of internet databases.

The results of their stories are put together from the testimony of books and magazines, archival materials, historical photographs, films, memories. Visitors will be provided with general guidance on the ways to search for questions of the past.
