Abstract

Opinion leaders can have a significant impact on speed and quality of information flow. Number and positioning of opinion leaders also matter.

In this work two topologies of an environment are considered - grid and network. Also several parameters of information spread are considered, such as strength of ties between individuals, decay of information, number of opinions or random noise.

Various types of positioning (random or structured) are systematically explored via extensive computer simulations in which individuals (leaders or followers) are represented as computer agents. The results of simulations are then compared to social processes that occurred during The Arab Spring.
