Urology of the first contact: selected chapters

Publication at Central Library of Charles University, Third Faculty of Medicine |
2021

Abstract

This book clearly and concisely approaches the issue of urological problems to a wider range of readers. It is intended primarily for general practitioners and emergency medical services without the need for deep knowledge in the field of urology.

In the first part, the book summarizes the area of clinical anatomy and pathophysiology of selected urological difficulties, which the above professions encounter most often. The next part describes the solution of acute manifestations.

It includes a unique algorithm for differential diagnosis of urological symptoms in primary care, which builds on the content of individual chapters. The book is supplemented by a set of case studies, in which the authors draw on their own experience.

Thanks to the focus on primary care, the monograph is unique in comparison with other publications focused on urology, because it represents a basic approach to selected acute and chronic conditions from the point of view of the environment with limited human, diagnostic and material resources. The information contained in the book will thus make it easier to co-decide on the procedure for urological diseases in specific patients and will also facilitate the decision when to refer a patient to a urological workplace.
