Methamphetamine intoxication from the perspective of a general practitioner

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine |
2020

Abstract

The text is focused on the issue of acute methamphetamine intoxication. The confrontation of a general practitioner with an acutely intoxicated patient is sporadic.

Therefore, general practitioners do not have enough experience with acutely intoxicated patients unless they are engaged in pre-hospital emergency care. Psychological and physical changes induced by acute intoxication with methamphetamine require a specific approach in the care of such a patient.

In the text we present basic information about methamphetamine and the care of a patient intoxicated by this noxa. Whether severe acutely or chronically.
