Applied theatre and drama : pedagogical perspective

Abstract

This paper offers a basic anchoring and conceptualization of the term applied theatre and drama (ATD) in the Czech environment. Based on excerpts from professional literature, it specifies features and objectives common to all theatrical-dramatic applications and presents how to meet these objectives.

Through the use of applied theatre and drama as a tool of reflection and a qualitative research method or as a tool for learning specific skills and knowledge. The text also deals with the roles of individual participants in a creative alliance, which is typical for the applications of theatre and drama in a broader socio-educational context.

Everything is then summarized in a simple methodological tool, the ATD participatory model, expressing the degree of participation of individual members of the creative alliance in various stages of the creative process.
