Abstract
Opioids are a specific group of drugs used to treat pain. They are the strongest analgesics used to treat pain.
They have an interesting history, in the past they were used not only as analgesics, but very often for recreational purposes and as stimulants and drugs. An overview of currently available preparations points to their peculiarities and possibilities of their use in the treatment of pain, specifics of individual preparations and their side effects.
At the end of the text, we briefly describe the general rules for their implementation and management.
