Infectious Complications of Injecting Drug Administration

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2021

Abstract

Any addiction has serious social, economic, and health consequences. Injecting administration, in particular, is closely associated with health, namely infectious, complications.

Attention is drawn to the spectrum of diseases, their different manifestations, and the pitfalls of correct diagnosis among PWID. Infections of particular systems, such as skin and soft tissue, the respiratory system, and sexually transmitted diseases, etc. are discussed.

In view of the focus of the journal and its readers, we highlighted the diagnostic aspects of the medical complications rather than their treatment. To improve the situation of PWID, an appropriate approach and understanding of the complex nature of their problem is crucial, as well as the assistance in their communication with healthcare professionals when solving this multidisciplinary issue.
