Abstract

The association between exercise and the lower incidence of many diseases, especially cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, is well known. As early as the 1950s, British researchers noticed that a sedentary lifestyle was associated with health risks when they observed a higher incidence of heart attacks among London bus drivers (mostly at work behind the wheel, of course) than guides (who mostly stood or walked). by bus).

But the health benefits of exercise are much greater. Physical activity acts as a primary prevention for the development of 35 diseases (in addition to the already mentioned cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, it also affects some types of cancer, depression or cognitive dysfunction).
