Abstract

Cooperation of a doctor and a speech therapist in concept of long-term care is still not very known domain, although it gains more importance and usefulness. In comprehensive care it can contribute setting up of the adequate and supportive care as much as possible especially for patients with swallowing disorder, fatic disorder or speech disorder.

In the case of swallowing disorders, it is necessary to set such a form of nutrition and regimen measures so that the patient's condition does not worsen due to malnutrition or complications (aspiration and subsequent respiratory infection) associated with neglect or underestimation of swallowing difficulties. In a case of aphsia or dysarthria, the primary goal is to restore or sufficiently substitute the patient's successful communication with his surroundings.

The final case reports show positive examples of this reciprocal cooperation and its importance in comprehensive care in the model of long-term care.
