This article presents a Russian Orthodox iconographer’s, Sr Johanna Reitlinger (1898 -1988), work and life in the North of England, Yorkshire, in 1938. As a spiritual daughter of Fr Sergii Bulgakov (1871-1944), a pioneer of the ecumenical movement, Sr Johanna participated in his ecumenical projects by her art of iconography.
This is well documented in the archives of the Anglican Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield and provides Sr Johanna’s original description of her art as discussed in the article.
