Abstract

The study and at the same time a short reading book of texts presents examples of allegorical interpretation of the crossing of the Red Sea by Philo, Origen, Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nyssa and Quodvultdeus and shows how they appropriated both the Old Testament narration of the journey out of slavery, and various philosophical teaching.
