Abstract

Small stature is one of the most common reasons for visiting a pediatric endocrinologist. It is usually defined as height less than two standard deviations (SD) for children of the same sex and chronological age.

In these children, a thorough clinical and laboratory examination is important to identify possible serious causes, such as Cushing's disease, hypothyroidism, chronic kidney disease, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, long-term corticotherapy.
