Abstract

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a psychiatric illness affecting mostly girls during adolescens. Body image disturbance is one of the main characteristics of anorexia nervosa (AN).

Anorexia nervosa patients are dissatisfied with their body and they may even have non-realistic body size estimation based on a perceptual disturbance. Some of studies show that anorexia nervosa patients overestimate their body size.

Some studies claim that their body size estimation is accurate and some studies even show underestimation of body size by anorexia nervosa patients. The aim of this systematic review is to analyze the results of studies published in last five years examining body image disturbance in the case of anorexia nervosa patients.
