Abstract
Pediatric neurology is experiencing a dynamic and beautiful period of revolutionary advances in the diagnosis and treatment of a number of diseases, many of which until recently had no known cause or were considered incurable, or both. This development of medical science required a complete revision of previous editions of the textbook of pediatric neurology from 2000 and 2008 and its fundamental revision and addition of new, current knowledge and information.
The publication Fundamentals of Pediatric Neurology is intended for both medical students and a wide range of people interested in the issue of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system in childhood. The organizers are aware that its scope is not such that it can be considered a complete textbook of pediatric neurology.
Even so, they believe it can be useful and helpful to all specialists in the field. The team of authors from the Department of Pediatric Neurology of the 2nd Medical Faculty of Charles University and the University Hospital in Motol and colleagues from nearby specializations tried to cover both the basics and the latest findings of pediatric neurology in a small space.
