Safety Issues of Practical Work in Chemistry Education: Teachers' Perspective

Recently, there were several papers disputing the traditional role of practical work in chemistry eductaion published. Also, in a local study, practical work was found to be a part of chemistry instruction only rarely.

Safety issues seem to be one of the main obstacles in this respect. In this research, attention was given to the frequency of different types of chemistry practical work in relation to criteria such as teachers' education, teaching experienc or school-size.

Moreover, their awareness of safety issues was analysed from several aspects: knowledge of the regulations, their used during lesson planning or frequency of additional training within chemistry lab safety.
