The Theme of Citizenship (muwātana) as a Challenge to Islamic Jurisprudence

Abstract

The chapter focuses on the category of citizenship (muwātana) in contemporary Muslim-Christian dialogue. Muslims do not accept the term citizenship in a secular sense, but rather they find its Muslim roots in the so-called Constitution od Medina (623 CE).
