Convicted juveniles in Czech prisons regarding to their reeducation and resocialization

Abstract

The paper focuses on convicted juveniles, including the development of their number from 1992 to the present, regarding to reeducation and resocialization. First it defines a juvenile according to criminal law and briefly defines the types of measures that can be imposed on a juvenile for an offense.

It also shows the development of the number of convicted juveniles, which has been constantly decreasing since 1992. Despite the relatively small numbers of these persons in prison, juveniles require specific treatment, which is described in the next chapter.

In the last part the author presents the results of selected domestic research, which focuses on convicted juveniles.
