This paper presents the main ideas of the 'slow living' movement and of Michelle Boulous Walker's 'slow philosophy', and their application to movement activities, under the title of 'slow sports'. Slow sports are recreational movement activities without a competitive element, with special emphasis on the element of slowness.
They capture the importance of bodily movement and of bodily immersion within a specific environment, with the aim of cultivating our sensibilities, deepening our experiencing and contributing to our overall well-being.
