Abstract
Genital herpes is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide. The recommended procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of genital herpes emphasizes the early and correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment, which should lead to an improvement in the quality of life of patients.
Proper diagnosis and treatment also reduces the risk of severe genital herpes and reduces infection transmission. Emphasis is placed on specific situations involving genital herpes in pregnancy and in HIV-positive women.
