Abstract
The second, completely revised edition of the book Pediatric Cardiology in Your Pocket follows on from previous publications by Zuzana Urbanová and Milan Šamánek. The book was written by a team of leading pediatric cardiologists and its aim is to provide the most important information about heart disease in children in a clear form.
The book is intended primarily for paediatricians, neonatologists, pediatric intensivists and pediatric cardiologists who encounter children with cardiovascular disease in clinical practice. It is also suitable for medical students.
It is a unique publication that provides as little information as possible in a small format, especially in the provision of primary care for children with heart disease, but does not replace the textbook of pediatric cardiology. It includes, among other things, an overview of possible examination methods, differential diagnosis of symptoms that could be caused by heart disease, basic pharmacological and surgical treatment options, recommendations for caring for children after congenital heart defects and a list of the most common complications they can expect.
He also deals with the issue of acquired heart disease, hypertension, prevention of ischemic heart disease, cardiac complications of COVID-19.
