Abstract

Gender dysphoria in adolescence is a growing problem that is increasingly occurring in child and adolescent psychiatry. Psychiatric hospitalization of adolescents with gender dysphoria, who most often come for suicidal behavior and self-harm, raises a number of questions and practical problems.

The authors illustrate the issue of gender dysphoria in inpatient psychiatric care with a case series of three cases of adolescent girls. They mainly discuss problems of management and communication during psychiatric hospitalization.
