Abstract

Height is connected with increased risk of development of some of malignant tumours including ductal adenocarcinoma of pancreas (PDAC). Higher risk of development of some of malignant tumours is also characteristical for acromegaly.

Although PDAC doesn't belong to cancers usually associated with acromegaly, cancer cells in PDAC have higher expression of growth hormone receptor. Growth hormone is diabetogenic and vice versa, insulinopenic diabetes is connected with higher concentrations of growth hormone.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) belongs to known risk factors of development of PDAC. This article reviews a possible role of growth hormone in a development of PDAC with accent on tight relationship of growth hormone's physiology to DM.
