The aim of the contribution is to introduce the processing of cartographic cultural heritage in the Map collection of the Faculty of Science, Charles University. Here, thanks to the project of the Ministry of culture, 60 000 cartographic documents were professionally described and 65 000 were digitized.
Documents were also made available in the Digital map collection and in the Digital university repository. Thanks to that, the most important historical sources were uncovered, as for example the work of F.
Camocio (1565), which was registered in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. Globes and geomorphological models were made available as well.
Data were aggregated into digital university libraries on national and international level. For propagation, exhibitions were organized which are also available in digital form.
Finally, the results and negative consequences for digitized processing of the academic cultural heritage are summarized.
