Vitamin D is a lipophilic vitamin that is involved in the proper functioning of physiological and hormonal processes in our body. Since it is converted into an active metabolite in the body, it can be called a hormone.
According to recent findings, a large proportion of the world's population (including those in sunny and coastal areas) suffers from deficiency of this hormone. In gynecology and obstetrics, deficiency of vitamin D could have a very negative effect on a certain part of patients.
World and national gynecological and obstetric organizations are aware of this fact and are actively involved in the problem of vitamin D deficiency. National Obstetrics and Gynecology Organization of the Czech Republic is currently discussing the approval of a new recommended procedure for the treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency in gynecology and obstetrics.
Hopefully a new recommended procedure will be done and will help us provide more comprehensive care to our clients.
