Abstract

Telemedicine is the remote transmission of medical information and communication (patient-physician, physician-physician) through telecommunications and information technologies: two-way video, e-mail, smartphones, wireless tools, digital data sharing and more. With the help of these technologies, the patient's clinical condition is ascertained, remote provision of medical services is enabled, and consulting services are provided remotely.

Telemedicine is part of the so-called "eHealth" (electronic healthcare). Since the spring of 2020, due to the covid-19 pandemic and in the context of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2), personal visits to the doctor have decreased and the need for virtual doctor-patient contact has increased.

These communication changes will be maintained in certain forms even after a pandemic.
