Journalism in Turkmenistan: Political and Social Dimensions

Abstract

The paper argues that journalism education in post-Soviet Turkmenistan confronts the suppressed media environment. The systemic repression of alternative voices and propaganda of the personality cult of the state leader in media practices contradict the basics of media literacy formulated in the globalized context.
