Abstract
The aim of this work is to draw attention to the health effects of the abuse of illegal addictive substances (AS) and to give the basic characteristics of the most frequently abused AS, methods of application and the resulting possible negative health consequences. With the right differential diagnostic consideration based on good and long-term knowledge of the patient, anamnestic data, but especially from quality and consistent somatic examination and knowledge about AS abuse, a correct diagnosis and targeted treatment can be reached more quickly.
The effect will be multifaceted, from the relief to the patient himself or his family members, the financial effectiveness of the rational indication of complementary examinations and prescriptions through the satisfaction of the physicians from their own work. Finally, it will be a positive contribution to the protection of society.
