Menopause is a period of a woman's life characterized by ovarian follicle depletion, estrogen deficiency, and a secondary hypergonadotropic state. Menopause is accompanied by typical symptoms, which include: hot flushes, sweating, insomnia, palpitations, arrhythmias, headaches, migraines, dizziness, irritability, lack of concentration or depression.
The late effects of estrogen deficiency occur in the postmenopause and in the elderly: symptoms of urogenital atrophy, osteoporosis, hip and vertebral fractures. The solution to menopausal problems should be causal: individualized estrogen substitution and a thoroughly educated and cooperating user of this treatment.
