Antiangiogenic therapy – current indications and future perspectives

Abstract

Angiogenesis is a complex process that is essential for tumor growth, invasiveness and metastasis. In the last ten years, a number of substances that inhibit angiogenesis have been studied and introduced into clinical oncology practice.

Inhibition of tumor angiogenesis is a promising treatment modality for cancer. This review enumerates some of the current approaches and possible future directions of treating solid tumors by targeting neovascularization.
