The geopolitics of space is an innovative topic in the field of study of political sciences, and we are currently witnessing dawn of a new golden era of space activities, which contains original trends and dynamic relations between space actors, new technological innovations and possibilities of humankind and diverse futuristic goals. The strategic importance of space activities is immeasurable in many areas of human activity, such as military use, communication and navigation capabilities, commercial sphere, scientific progress and, last but not least, diplomatic influence.

Mentioned features are the reason for scientific researchers' interest in the described topic, which is influenced by geographical, military, diplomatic, socio-economic, technological and environmental factors, and therefore offers many academic approaches to its study. One of the most noticeable shift in the framework of space activities is taking place in the field of space actors.

Space powers, without exception, have institutions coordinating a national space program covering some or all aspects of space activity. In recent years, an increasing number of new space agencies can be observed, which may be closely linked to a trend called New Space.
