Abstract
Cognitive dysfunction and its improvement is another item in the unmet needs in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia. It is permanently present in the vast majority of patients and results in impaired functioning and disability.
It is one of the core components of schizophrenia, the genetic nature of which we cannot yet influence. However, we can reduce and improve other circumstances (eg psychopharmacotherapy, cardiovascular risks) that may exacerbate this dysfunction if left unnoticed.
