Philosophy (up to!) beyond the Horizon of Events

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2022

Abstract

The article attempts to look beyond the metaphorically understood horizon, primarily in connection with current events that literally fill public space in our distinctive cultural and social environment. How is information handled in the public space today? In today's "liquid" information period, how can the surplus of diverse information be dealt with, or how can the most valuable information be taken into account in the most efficient way possible, while maintaining the premise of validity (or at least a certain appearance of it)? What actually shapes the horizon of individual events today (if there is such a thing at all) and what does everything affect it (either directly or indirectly)? What role does a specific social science discipline - philosophy - play here? These questions will be of the utmost importance here and at the same time develop the main initiation within the chosen topic.

With the above-mentioned stimuli, the paper attempts to point out the current grasp of philosophy itself and the resulting facts, which are coherently connected to the current approach to this social science discipline. The chosen topic is defined in a relatively vigorous way in relation to certain reality, facts and phenomena that are currently relevant (they are so-called in the course).

It is certainly not done for a purely pragmatic reason, or perhaps for an ideological effort. The paper tries mainly to take into account the relevant facts, their consequences and tries to look at the very horizon of the constantly flowing events of our lives.
