The interrelationship between power and media is being frequently articulated, commonly without explicit and thorough definition what is meant by the power. The paper is focused on the anatomy of power in relation to the media, underlining the ambiguity of the term; in one perspective the media power towards the society, in the other the power towards the media stemming from various social actors.
Meanwhile in general the power is the multiple tier term with high flexibility, from more particular perspective is one of its constituents access power being expressed by socially unequally distributed possibility to access to media contents. The power of certain social actors towards the media may be maintained and multiplied by media power itself among others and also by presented capability to set the agenda and its framing.
That supposed capability of media can become an unintended exercise of extramedia power.
