The lecture contains both a summary of historical legal regulation and the practice of donations in order to secure export permits of cultural monuments from the beginning of the First Czechoslovak Republic until the end of the so-called Time of Oppression, as well as an analysis of problematic restitution hereof to descendants of the original owners. The above sections are further divided into research periods describing the development in the approach to this issue over time.
With regard to the ambiguous acceptation of the latest case law in the Czech Republic, a partial comparison with the Austrian approach to this phenomenon forms a separate part at the end of the paper.
