Literary Canon from the Perspective of the School-Leaving Exam

Abstract

The lists of recommended reading for school-leaving exam were subjected to analysis. The outcomes of the analysis are presented and reviewed in our paper and serve as a basis for broader reflection of canon and literary education.

We also express doubts over several claims concerning homogeneity and other qualities of canon. Our findings are related to other secondary school teaching topics with a tendency to form canon.
