The studies using the anchoring vignette method are scarce in educational research despite their promising results. Researchers willing to use the method face many difficulties with the formulation of the vignettes.
This article presents some guidance regarding vignette formulation. The article shortly presents the anchoring vignette method and summarizes some general recommendations for vignette formulation found in the literature - vignette equivalence, response consistency, discriminatory power and language and content relevance.
The article also presents some concrete recommendations concerning vignette formulation in the areas of grit and ICT skills, which are illustrated by the vignettes created by the authors. The process of vignette development is also described.
The authors discuss the utility of the method in the area of educational research and the potential benefits of its further application.
