The essay attempts to show the function of the productive imagination in the Grundlage der gesamten Wissenschaftslehre by an investigation of the examples which Fichte introduces in the §4 of this work explicitly in the context of the imagination. These examples are of light and darkness.
They provide an analogy of the relationship between the I and the Non-I. The aim of this analogy is to make the dynamic of this relationship intuitive.
It is shown that the imagination is precisely the function of the I which has to guarantee the unity of this relationship. DOI: 10.1163/18795811-50120028
