Abstract

This paper focuses on the process of discharging of the subjects on the chambers's estates Točník, Zbiroh and Králův Dvůr in the years 1670-1690, ie under the office of governor Ignatius Sebastian de Bois. The release of the subjects was governed by both provincial regulations, such as the Verneuerte Landesordnung, and sovereign regulations, such as the instructions for the governor.

However, the exact procedure of the discharging process has not yet been described, so the paper tries to shed light on the process that subjects and the lords had to undergo in order to issue a certificate of discharge. In its conclusion, the paper debates the hypothesis that the described mechanisms are applicable to other chamber estates in the second half of the 17th century.

As regards methodology, the study is embedded in a microhistorical approach, which in conjunction with the quantitative-qualitative approach allow to capture both the overall picture of the discharge procedure and its individual aspects in detail.
