In the case of the construction of an underground nuclear waste repository, or in the case of the foundations of large structures, it is necessary, from the point of view of safety, to continuously measure the condition of the rock mass. Existing methods only allow one-off measurements with imported equipment, which may not always be sufficient.
Therefore, in cooperation with TUL, UK and the company G IMPULS, equipment was developed for permanent monitoring of the rock mass. The system consists of an apparatus for resistive tomography and a seismic part, which simultaneously monitors the rock using ultrasonic waves.
The system makes it possible to detect both long-term gradual changes and sudden changes caused by an unexpected natural disaster or technological failure. An important feature of the system is the storage of measured data in the internal memory of the system and at the same time remote data collection via Ethernet and storage of measured data on a remote server.
