The objective of the paper is to present the "Database of translations of Czech literature into Spanish" GAUK project and preliminary results of the research focused on the study of Mexican translations of Czech literature, that is, the literary translation of a smaller language (Czech) to a bigger language (Spanish) as part of communication between two (at first glance) distant cultures. The methods used to study the history of translations and to digitalize collected data are explained and a comparative view, both quantitative and qualitative, of Czech-Mexican and Mexican-Czech translations published in book form is presented.
