ADRIENA ŠIMOTOVÁ and JIŘÍ JOHN conference and their place in the context of fine art and culture of the XX. century and the present
Abstract
The conference was originally planned as part of the accompanying program of the exhibition Adriena Šimotová and Jiří John Double imagery/Return in return (February 27 - August 2, 2020), which was organized by the Regional Gallery of the Highlands in Jihlava in cooperation with the Foundation Fund of Adriena Šimotová and Jiří John. The curator and author of the exhibition concept was Pavel Brunclík.
However, due to the epidemic situation at the time, this part of the accompanying program of the exhibition was cancelled. The conference prepared for October 8, 2021 was its replacement.
The intention of the conference was to support the continuity of the interpretation of the work and the life of Adriena Šimotová and Jiří John, to focus attention on the art-historical connections of their work, as well as to expand and update the existing interpretation perspectives with interpretation possibilities connected with the philosophical thinking of the time in which Adriena Šimotová and Jiří John lived and they worked.
