Abstract
The paper does not cover all aspects of EU asylum and return legislation and policy. It focuses specifically on one of the lines of contact of these areas, which are basically three: 1. the transition between legal regimes of detention, 2. the relationship of the asylum and return procedure that has taken place or is ongoing, and 3. the so-called "last minute applications", i.e. applications for asylum submitted only at or just before the implementation of the return.
