Abstract
The introductory essay clarifies the significance and impact of Jayadeva's Gita Govinda; at the same time, it outlines the development of the poem's themes on the Indian Subcontinent and its subsequent impact and reception in India and in Europe. The second part of the essay comprises a detailed analysis of Zubatý's and Borecký's Czech translation (with a focus on its form).
